THE MAN IN THE COMPANY
Santino supports the goals formulated by the International Labour Organisation (ILO) Conventions on the area of social working conditions and circumstances, including child labour and discrimination. As a trading company, we source textiles from manufacturers in Bangladesh, China, India, Turkey and Portugal. We are committed to respecting internationally applicable norms and values in all our business activities.
Since 2007, we have had a code of conduct', the “Code of Conduct”, which must be observed for all factories where our products are manufactured. This Code of Conduct is enshrined in the contracts concluded with our suppliers every year. The Code of Conduct is an integral part of our ‘General Terms and Conditions for Purchase and Deliveries’, which suppliers must sign for acceptance.
Sustainable Development Goals (SDG's)
The SDGs are 17 goals aimed at making the world a better place by 2030. The goals were agreed upon by all 196 countries within the United Nations (UN), including the Netherlands. Thousands of organisations and millions of people around the world were consulted in developing the SDGs.
The SDGs were launched in 2015 and run until 2030. They serve as a global framework for addressing challenges such as poverty, education and the climate crisis. They succeeded the Millennium Development Goals, which ran from 2000 to 2015. The 17 goals are supported by 169 specific targets, making them more concrete and measurable. (Source SDGNederland.nl)
Santino focuses on 4 of the 17 SDG's: clean water and sanitation, decent work and economic growth, responsible consumption and production, and partnerships for the goals. We translate these goals into concrete actions within our own organisation and in our cooperation with partners in the Netherlands and abroad. Santino recognises that all of the SDGs are interconnected. However, several of them are particularly relevant to Santino’s day-to-day activities, and we would like to highlight these in more detail.
LONG-TERM PARTNERSHIPS
Finally, Santino directly invites you, in partnership, to make the textile chain further sustainable through, for example, long-term cooperation. Because for Santino, the earth is just as sustainable as the relationship with all our partners.
